About

Leah Swindle

Hello. I’m Leah Swindle, LSCSW. I studied at University of Missouri-Kansas City and graduated with my MSW degree in 2007. I’d like to think I’ve been “practicing” long before that, as I’ve been the go-to listener in my social circle for years. I really enjoy hearing people’s stories and I’m never not taken aback by those “aha” moments that come with telling your story and making connections.

Like many in this field, I’ve also experienced my own therapy. I’m very sensitive to the fact that just coming to my office can be frightening and intimidating. For most, therapy is a mystery and is deeply personal, which can make it very difficult to know what to expect. Having done this work myself I can really appreciate what your side of this must be like. I try to create a safe and comfortable space for you to talk.

It comes pretty naturally to me because I understand that we are all humans, we all make mistakes, and we should all be able to move on from them without fear of judgement. In my office, you can count on gentle, open and honest communication and guidance that you play a role in. This is a collaboration- we work together. I simply behave in the way that I would like a therapist to behave towards me. It is my sincerest hope that, should you honor me by choosing me to work with you, this will be your experience.

Please don’t be shy about calling to seek a consultation or to make an appointment! If you have any further questions, I am happy to answer them so that you may be as comfortable as possible if you make the choice to work with me.
